5 Ways to find Online Jobs – Why don’t you find them?
Applying to online jobs and finding them are two different things. The people who find these jobs are different from those who just apply and wait.
You've probably heard of online jobs like content development, video editing, freelancing, and so on. But one question that always plays on our mind is: How do we find these online jobs? Genuine and authentic ones.
But before you actually start approaching the potential employers, here’s a small exercise that you must do to ensure that you get results when you begin hunting. Ignore this and you set yourself up for a failure.
1. Identify your interest and passion:
The phrase "I need an online job" or "Please give me an online job" is commonly used in online job applications. In this case, it shows that you have no idea what you want to do, and the employer is unable to determine your interest. How can the employer refer you for a job in this case? The best you can do here is sit down and consider your interests, skills, and passion. Keep an eye on the market for new developments as well. And now, with a prepared attitude, approach a potential employer with your specific request. When you approach someone with a specific request, for example, "I am good at mathematics and I am interested in content writing," it becomes much easier for them to refer you for an online job. It is simple for someone to refer you based on the specifications you have provided. So, the most important thing to remember here is to be clear about what you want for yourself.
2. Write a good CV & Cover Letter:
Writing your CV is a great way to get to know yourself better. As a result, it is best not to copy or have someone else create your CV for you. You should check references, but make sure you write your own CV. Otherwise, you will miss out on an opportunity to get to know yourself.
In the present era, you send your CV via email. But who decides whether or not your CV attachment has been opened? It is decided through your email or the cover letter. Thousands of people may apply for a specific job, but when the hiring manager contacts the candidate, majority of them do not even recall applying for the job. In this case, the hiring manager only contacts the candidates who send their CVs with a cover letter, i.e. a personalized email. 3. Never send random applications:
Applying for jobs at random will only increase your chances of failure. It is better to seek out employers who are interested in you. Submit your application to the companies where you want to work. Another factor to consider when searching for an online job is – Don’t overlook start-ups, freelancers, and small businesses. Large corporations can afford to hire two people for the same position because they have large budgets. Now that you’ve completed the above steps, it's time to create your LinkedIn profile. A LinkedIn profile will assist you in making connections with other professionals. When necessary, you may be able to send them personal messages. This could be quite beneficial to you.

Most of us believe that there are specific job boards for these online jobs, and all you have to do is click on the apply button to get the job. However, this is the half-truth. All online jobs are never posted on a job board at any time. To get these jobs, there are many other resources and the one who gets these jobs are the ones who utilize these resources.

1. Network and get the news out:
Grow your network and notify everyone in your list of contacts that you are looking for an online job. More specific the request, higher are the chances of success. Through LinkedIn, you can connect with professionals, freelancers, and small businesses in your personal circle. When you send them a message, tell them about your skills and ask if they have any relevant openings. If they are interested in your skills and want to continue the conversation, you could ask them for their contact information or see if their contact information is available on their website where you can contact them. The most important thing to remember here is, whenever you approach someone, your passion, skills, and interests should be clearly visible to them. That is when they would hire you.
2. Don’t ignore your surroundings:
Your potential employer may be sitting next to you. When seeking work, we prefer to hunt for jobs online with people we don't know and miss those in our vicinity. This is just the way people are. However, there may be a lot of people in your surroundings who need some job done. For e.g. we may find a significant number of people who, among other things, may require a logo design, digital marketing services, or an app. They're all looking for something, and they might be your clients. Why try to get a job with strangers when you can search about and find a plethora of businesses in need of your assistance around you?
3. Your previous employers:
As they are already acquainted with you professionally and personally, this is a valuable resource when looking for an online job.
4. Use Social Media effectively:
Social media is an excellent resource for finding online jobs. In addition to LinkedIn, there are other platforms where you should follow companies, such as Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest. It is best to follow the companies which can provide jobs of your interest on these platforms. You can also contact them if they are publishing any requirements that are of interest to you.
One thing to remember when contacting them is to never leave your contact information in their comment section, as this can get you into trouble. It would be preferable to send a personal message to the concerned person.
5. Career page on company websites:
This is also a valuable resource that should not be overlooked. Many businesses post their requirements on their websites in the career page section. So, if you follow their page regularly, you will be informed of any job openings in their company. There are also a few websites that offer freelance projects, such as Upwork.com, Fivver.com, and PeoplePerHour.com, that you may follow.
6. Contact the websites/apps where you learned your primary skills:
Send your CV along with a cover letter to the places you follow to learn your primary skills. You'd be surprised to learn that the majority of them are already planning a project, or if your skill set appeals to them, there's a chance they'll create a position for you. You may not believe that it is one of the most effective methods of job searching. However, if done correctly, it will unquestionably benefit you.
You can most certainly find online jobs, however, you’ll have to put in the same amount of effort to find an online job as you would to find an office job. If you believe that online jobs are being handed out on a silver platter or through campus recruitment, we have not yet arrived there. However, if you have a well-planned strategy for looking for an online job, you will almost certainly find one.
