Different companies use different software for data entry work. The interviewers mostly look for a candidate having good skills with various software and keyboard.

The most common software applications are Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Open Office, Access, and Project. A candidate having familiarity with different database is preferred over others.

When you apply for a position, see if they need you to know any particular software. Try to learn it, if possible.

To answer this question you can say: I am good with Microsoft Suite and can work confidently with it. I have also worked with software like XYZ and ABC and done an advanced course in Microsoft Excel.

If the job requires me to learn a new software, I'll be able to do it quickly as I'm a quick learner. At my previous job, I was able to start using a new software with the help of online tutorials and some in-house training.

5. What are the most important aspects of a data entry job?

The two most important aspects of data entry job are:

i. Accuracy: Data does not mean just words. It includes numbers, product codes, sales figures, images etc. The spell checkers can't catch the mistakes in them. So, it is the human accuracy that is important here.

ii. Speed: Along with accuracy, the other important thing is speed. Most of the companies would expect a certain amount of data to get into the system in a given time.
